In a letter to his wife the battalion chaplain wrote: ‘I have the saddest news to convey to you, if you have not already heard it. Your husband, Pte Allan C Kerr (21651), Seaforths, was killed in action on 2nd August last, while the Seaforths were taking part battle of Ypres. He met his death with a single bullet, which killed him instantly.’
