German Airmen - Bailleul Communal Cemetery and Extension

There are two airmen. Pilot and Observer.

Grave B4 Georg von Puttkamer. Feld Flieger Abteilung 5. Grave B5 Hans Hyiiers. Feld Flieger Abteilung 5. They were flying in a two-seater reconnaissance aircraft on 26 April 1916 when they were shot down near Hazebrouck by Lieutenant W J C Kennedy-Cochran-Patrick in Nieuport Scout, 5172, he was based at the No.1 Aircraft Depot, St Omer. He won an MC for this victory and later was awarded a bar to the MC and a DSO.
